We had the pleasure of working with Great Southern Constructors to build three projects at the
Celebration Point project in Gainesville, Florida.
The first project was a famous coffee store – sitework and shell at Celebration Point. This project was completed on time and with minimal number of change orders. Ken Tumlin the president of the company and his staff were very involved with the project and were able to solve problems to deliver the project on schedule.
Ken and his staff worked well with the 3rd party inspectors and with the Alachua County Building Department, and they successfully accomplished what was required to obtain the certificate of completion.
The second project was a 2 million dollar, 26,000 SF interior build out on the 3rd and 4th floors of our 5001-office building, also located at Celebration Point. This project had a very compressed time frame and required a very coordinated effort to get the job completed in the 17-week time frame required to meet our lease agreement with the tenant. This was a high-end finish project had several elaborate finishes to match the tenant’s corporate personality. Great Southern accepted the challenge, worked through extensive value engineering and pushed through to enabled the tenant to occupy on time.
Paul Tanguy’s efforts as the superintendent worked well with the project manager to make sure the intent of the contract documents was adhered to. Paul was able to solve problems with scheduling, sub coordination and was a key part of the success of this project.
The third project was a small workout facility and common areas, which occupied a portion of the second floor. This project as well had a demand of occupancy from the tenant and required Great Southern’s team to accelerate the work and complete it in 60 days. Great Southern’s ability to think out of the box to compress this buildout in this time frame allowed for the tenant to occupy when they had to be in the space.
